FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you been doing this?

Since as far back as I can remember I have been practising hair styles and makeup on family and friends. Professionally I have been doing this since 2007.

What qualifications do you have?

I have my NVQ level 3 in beauty, which I obtained from Saks Academy.

What brands to you use?

Bobbi Brown, NARs, Illamasque, Laura Mercier, MAC I use brands that have great staying power and a variety of brands to suit different skin tones/types.

How long does a bridal hair and makeup trial take?

Approximately 1.5 hours per look

How long does a bridal look take on the day?

I always keep 3 hours for hair, makeup and dressing

Do you travel to the bride?

Yes I do, however a travel charge does apply (please see T&C’s). For the trial the bride comes to me.

Do you travel abroad?

Yes I do (please see T&C’s).

Can I use my own foundation?

Yes we can use your own foundation if that is what you are most comfortable with.  I also really take into account what YOU want. I had a client who absolutely did not want to wear foundation, so I used concealer in the smallest amounts where needed and she was really happy.

How do you clean your brushes?

I always clean my brushes with shampoo at the end of each day. I carry a few sets of brushes with me if I have more than 1 client.

Can I purchase makeup used to be able to top up through the day?

For bridal bookings I provide the lipstick in a little pot for your day.  I do also recommend products/palettes you can keep on you if you think you will need a touch up. However I use long lasting products so 99.9% of the time touch ups are not needed.

Should I wash my hair on the day?

I always recommend washing hair the day before.  Clean hair looks so much better in pictures and I use product to manage it.

Do I need to grow my hair before my wedding?

This is a question I get a lot and a lot of brides do start growing their hair as soon as they know they are getting married!  However it’s not 100% necessary. Your hair does need to be long enough to put into a ponytail, normally that’s shoulder length. But these days there are so many great hair extensions and hair pieces available that long hair is not essential.
